Ok... I am the biggest xanga loser ever. I don't think I should even be allowed to update anymore, because I haven't done it since August! That's absurd. So basically, I don't know if there's enough room here to update what's happened in the last 6 months.... most of you who read this know anyways, but for those that don't, I'll try. It's dead week right now, and finals are going to kick everyone I know in various inappropriate regions (depending on who you ask, it's a different region) Josh and I got engaged on August 25th! Wedding will be not this summer, but the next! It took us a while to decide on when, but now that we have that, we're kind of starting on the details... wa hoot! Apartment life is good, and it's been really fun decorating my own space, and having my own kitchen! Bible studies have been good this year, but I've missed Dorsch tons and tons. Lace Mack and I have been in speech class this semester, and I think we love/hate it. It has it's moments, and is by far my favorite class because I'm sharing it with her. Friend time has been great and wonderful, if not often enough, but we're all hanging in there. I hate Kansas weather, and want to move to Bermuda. I'm not ready for the semester to be over. I think that's enough rambling for one session. I will try to be better at this, although I'm not sure anyone reads it, and most of those who do I see on a regular basis. Oh well... Have a great finals week!
| ok... so I officially suck at this now. but i've realized I'm not the only one, so i don't feel so bad anymore...
I am sitting in my brand new apartment, on my brand new couch, and I am really excited for some company. It's been a great week with my mom, setting everything up and getting all ready. Had a fan-flippin-tastic time on Thursday with the crew for G's birthday, and can't wait for more peoples to start coming back! not much else is going on, so til something exciting happens, that's all i have!
| Wow.... June 15th was a long time ago.... sorry about that... it's really hard to get on the computer here.... it's up in the den, away from people... at home it's always right there, so I get on it more, but here I don't... hmm..
So much has happened in the past month.. I don't really know how to fill it all in.... how about some random observations? those are always good, right?
- When we were young, it seemed that summers made us the best we could be. We played outside, made up games, enjoyed sunshine at 9 pm... it was a great time. Now it seems like summer makes me the worst. I've been really bad about keeping up with friends back home (in KS), I only see my parents at night since they work, and I really have to make time for quiet time. I really don't like it. Just wish that carefree attitude could come back.
- Nothing makes you appreciate your family more than being around other people. Nothing makes you appreciate other people more than being around your family. Just recently got back from an 8-day stay in OK. It was hot hot hot, and crazy. My cousin got married, and spent the reception dancing with the best man instead of the bride...hmm... but Josh came down, and that was great. I also got to two step with my daddy, so that was awesome. Josh met the remaining family on both sides this trip, so we'll see if he still likes me when I get back... I hope so.
- I don't think the people that write on church bulletin boards get enough credit. You have to be really clever to make them funny and yet still convicting. My favorite thing to do now is drive to the highway from my house, because I pass 5 churches, and they all change their signs weekly. Some of the best so far have been : Give God what is right, not what's left (not funny, but clever and true), and (my favorite) "God is looking for spiritual fruit, not religious nuts"
-Work has been incredible. I love love love it. Maybe I should waitress forever... it kinda seems like the perfect job for me... I'm too ADD to work at a desk or answer phones... and I really don't like to see the same people in a work atmosphere everyday... and with this job I don't have to. Well, we do have some regulars, but it's always new music, new faces, and it goes by really fast. I trained during the Brad Paisley/Sarah Evans concert, and then worked the Lunatic Luau (with Puddle of Mudd), Rooney and Kelly Clarkson, and last night Journey and Def Leopard. Loving music like I do, I couldn't ask for a better job.
- I have now seen for myself that the drummer from Def Leopard really does only have one arm! (Bloodhound gang fans know what I'm talking about.. and if you don't, it's still really interesting.) He's an incredible drummer... and a lot cooler than I'll ever be.
- The people that invent drinks and/or drink names are either funny, perverted, or both. Everytime I work, I learn some new drink, and everytime I have to call it to the bartender, I get slightly embarrassed and blush a little... I've gotten accustomed to a few of them since they're ordered so regularly (redheaded sluts, ie) but there's a new one almost everytime that just gets me. And calling it to the bar is horrible, because there are people drinking around it, and it's loud, so you have to yell.... who comes up with these things?
- God has just really showing me a lot this summer, and it's been incredible. It hasn't been good stuff... for the most part it's things I need to change and improve on, and that's always hard to realize...but it's been great, just getting to rely on him, and admit that I can't do it all, and I can't change without him, and also realizing that it's ok to not be ok. If we were all a little better, we'd all have a little less room for his grace.
I miss all of yall terribly, and can't wait to come back to manhappenin. I hope summer's are going well for everyone, and that projects rocked the faces off the masses. Be safe, and have at least one carefree day!
| Working tonight----ow ow!!! So excited... also nervous.... I'll let you know how it goes! | | |
| I don't know where the days go here. Sometimes it seems like time speeds by, sometimes it's incredibly slow. There's nothing really going on here yet, which makes it a little worse... I have to keep busy during the days, and I kind of suck at entertaining myself. I actually had a decent conversation with the dog this morning, although I think I said something offensive, because he hasn't talked to me since, and is actually avoiding me a little bit. Sad day. Work didn't start when it was supposed to.... darn Lynard Skynard and Johnny Walker's appendix. The first real concert of the season is June 11th, so hopefully next Sunday I'll be serving beer.... yay? Still trying to find a second job, and that's not going well either... too many people in this area doing the same thing. God will provide though, so there's no use worrying I guess. At least when I worry I feel like I'm doing something though.
Family is having some issues right now, so prayers would be much appreciated. Older sibling is a little whacked out, but hopefully not too whacked.
I miss Kansas and everyone so much! I hope all of you are having great summers so far!
